Bombers trade Poblah for Banks

WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have acquired veteran defensive back Korey Banks from the BC Lions in exchange for wide receiver Kito Poblah.

Banks has spent the last eight seasons with the Lions. In his ten-year CFL career, the import has been named a league all-star five times.

Banks racked up 46 tackles, three special teams tackles, a sack, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries last year.

“Korey adds an immediate presence in our locker room, veteran leadership both on and off the field,” said Bombers General Manager Kyle Walters. “We look forward to welcoming him to the Bomber organization. We also wish Kito all the best in Vancouver and thank him for his contributions to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.”

Poblah was selected by the Bombers in the 2011 supplemental draft. He had 53 catches for 534 yards and one touchdown in 34 games over three seasons.
